Tool 11

1.I like working with Tagxedo, because it was a word wall that would get the students engaged in the days activity. Having the students create their own word wall and collaborate it with the class to make a class word wall I think is a great way to get students involved.

2.I think with the new technology it has given me a new outlook about how to get students involved and encourage to use technology. My vision has stayed the same.I will make some changes when necessary

3.At this time no. I did learn a lot from the 11 tools and will use some of the tools I have learned to teach and model to students the importance of technology.

Tool 10

1. Discuss at least three things you would want to make sure your students understand about being good digital citizens.

One of the things that most important to teaching the students are about cyber bulling and understanding it’s not tolerable and the trouble they may get into behind it.

Blocked sites are for a reason and for their protection and why students should respect that and try not to get around blocked sites.

I would also want the students to understand about cautioning downloading certain sites that may have viruses or try and get personal information from the students.

2.Share at least one of the resources mentioned above or on the Ed Tech website that you plan to use instructionally.
Brainpop always seem to be a favorite.

3.Explain briefly how you would "teach" the idea of digital citizenship to your students.
I would have student’s sign a contract and go over different topics and rules about being a good digital citizen and taking responsibilities for breaking any rules.

4. Explain briefly how you plan to share the idea of digital citizenship with your parents.
Sending letters home to parents explaining usage and rights.

Tool 9

1. Why do you think it is important to tie the technology to the objective? Everything in this day in time has or will soon convert over to technology. The studetns seem to really be more involoved and interested to learn when technology is involoved. I have noticed that when given a choice to learn in a subject with or without technology the students would rather learn with technology.

2. Why should we hold students accountable for the stations/centers? Holding students accountable gives them ownership for what they are doing and learning.

3.   Visit 2 of the applicable links to interactive websites for your content/grade level. Which sites did you like. How could you use them as stations? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations? One I liked was mengahigh.com This looks like a cool site that for a station to help a lot of struggling math students and bored studetns get more involved learning math through games and making it fun overall for the students.
Another site I liked that I think what would make a good station because it gives students a lot of options to choose what game math topics they can practice on and on what level they may want to challenge.

4.List two to three apps you found for the iPod Touch/iPad that you can use in your classroom. What do you see that station looking like? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations? Connect Four (Competetive mind challenging gaming for the students), The weather channle(This is good for science classes). The two apps could be used with station questions that students will have to answer atfter completing the game or researching what the teacher has asked for.

5. What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students using the device as a station. Antother app I have heard about is brainpop. I have used it in the past for the entire class, but think it would also work well as a station for the subject(s) being covered for that day or week.

    Tool 8

Two things I you learned about the device(s) that will be in your classroom this fall: Since I will be in a new classroom this year I'm not sure if I will have Netbooks and iPads next year. If I do I plan to have a checking in/out inventory at the beginning and end of each period. There may be apps my students use more often in one subject and different ones in another so I would have my iPads and netbooks customized for my class specifically.

How do you plan to manage the device(s) in your classroom? Do you have ideas/suggestions that others may find useful? I will probably label each device and assign students to the devices for accountability.

    Tool 7

Connecting with students from other classrooms either close by or far away will allow my students to experience classroom cultures different from our class. Having students collaborate across grade levels, subject areas and cultures broadens the possibilities for new ideas.

Content objective:  Given Skype, math students will evaluate the results of variety of different problems given to them by the teachers and then holding a panel discussion with other classes.

When you plan to implement:  N/A

What tool(s) you plan to use:  Skype

A brief description of the project:  Using Skype students will communicate wit other classes an hold a discussion about the different ways they came up with solving the math problems they were given. All discussion will be supported by evidence.

    Tool 6

Created site examples for both, but would not pull up for me to copy and past.

    http://sbisd.edmodo.com/
I had students use edmodo during the morning ACE program and it seemed to go well. I think the students liked the site because it was like a social network. I like the students are able to exchange ideas, share content and access homework.

    http://wallwisher.com/build
I also like wallwishers because the teacher can create and use this tool as exit tickets, warm-ups, and a variety of just different information the teacher may want to get across to the class.

    Tool 5

http://65andre65.edu.glogster.com/safety/ I chose glogster for one of the web 2.0, because this is a tool that can be created to get the students attention and to get important information across to the students. When working with Brooks he used something similar to this in Science class.

I used Wordle also for web 2.0. The sports theme poem is a example.
    I

    Tool 4

We often used Google Docs on campus to communicate with other teachers about a variety of information from ICU list, setting up appointment's, meetings. Also, as a coach we used Google Docs to brainstorm ideas and for any events and duties we may have to work.

This is a great tool to use and I plan on letting the students use in the classroom to brainstorm and work on any work they may to complete or research they may have for a project.

    Tool# 3

I like schooltube.com because it had various ways for students to solve math problems. I also like that schooltube incorporated different videos from elementary to high school situations with songs  and step by step approaches to solving math problems.

This video is step by step video that shows students how to do long division. The students do body signals and sing the steps divide, multiply, and last step subtract and repeat steps as needed until problem is solved. this is a great way for students to memorize how to solve long division.

I like the song, because besides talking about slopes the teacher also talked about dong your homework and being respectful to others.

What I learned about copyright and fair use is that own media, so you decide how to use it. And if you use someone else's video you should obtain permission and give credit to the parties involved.

At the moment I'm not sure how I would use dropbox in the classroom.

    Tool#2

Here is a site I plan to use in the future: http://croitz.blogspot.com/ and it is under March 14th- Pi Day Video
This site has a cool little video about Pi with the lyrics.

Sharing my thoughts publicly is new for me. I was a little hesitant at first, but the more I blog and comment the more interesting this has become. Some of the blogging information has been very helpful and resourceful.

Did not read comment at the top.

    Summer Fun

I'm excited to be doing 11 tools!
