Tool 9

1. Why do you think it is important to tie the technology to the objective? Everything in this day in time has or will soon convert over to technology. The studetns seem to really be more involoved and interested to learn when technology is involoved. I have noticed that when given a choice to learn in a subject with or without technology the students would rather learn with technology.

2. Why should we hold students accountable for the stations/centers? Holding students accountable gives them ownership for what they are doing and learning.

3.   Visit 2 of the applicable links to interactive websites for your content/grade level. Which sites did you like. How could you use them as stations? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations? One I liked was mengahigh.com This looks like a cool site that for a station to help a lot of struggling math students and bored studetns get more involved learning math through games and making it fun overall for the students.
Another site I liked that I think what would make a good station because it gives students a lot of options to choose what game math topics they can practice on and on what level they may want to challenge.

4.List two to three apps you found for the iPod Touch/iPad that you can use in your classroom. What do you see that station looking like? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations? Connect Four (Competetive mind challenging gaming for the students), The weather channle(This is good for science classes). The two apps could be used with station questions that students will have to answer atfter completing the game or researching what the teacher has asked for.

5. What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students using the device as a station. Antother app I have heard about is brainpop. I have used it in the past for the entire class, but think it would also work well as a station for the subject(s) being covered for that day or week.

    2. MangaHigh is a great site built on gaming theory. In fact, it sounds as though Khan Academy also uses gaming theory. I wonder if you can expand learning for your students after school by using these sites. Did you not find any math apps? I notice you listed apps for other curriculum rather than yours.
